See Creston through your child's eyes....
Schikurski Park: Here I can run or bike freely on the paths without worry about cars. I can roam far enough (but not too far) because you can see across the whole park. I can climb the big grassy hill and splash in the (safe!) skinny creek that wiggles through the grass. On the undeveloped land behind the park, we can hunt for snails together, pick rosehips, squish in the mud, and see a whole bunch of neat plants and bugs. We can walk up the hill to the cedar stand and play in a fort or climb the leaning tree! It's a shady place on a hot day. |
Kuskanook Beach: Take me to the beach! It's only 12 minutes from town. If it's hot, let's swim! If it's cool, we can play on the shore and climb on great big driftwood logs. Dig in the sand with me. Splash in the cold creeks trickling down the mountain, through the sand and into the lake. We can hunt for neat rocks, chase dragonflies and be amazed at the beautiful lake and scenery. |
Summit Creek Park: Let's go for a walk, mom and dad! No cars here, so you don't have to worry about traffic. We can play in the awesome stand of cedars that's just off the main path, peek into old stumps and look for bugs under the logs. Then we can keep going to the creek, crossing the bridge. Just on the right side is an easy path to get down, where we can collect rocks and toss 'em in the water. On a frosty day you can see the best ice crystals along the shore! Or we could keep walking along the dykes to search for turtle eggs, snakes, or woodpeckers. |
The Goat River @ Hwy 21 C'mon, let's go down to the river! In the summer we can find a swimming hole and look for minnows. I'll show you how I can balance on a log! This place has the coolest rocks and great sandy stretches for digging. The water level is always changing here, so every day is a different. |
